cebora 3100 plasma cutter

hi guys
I have just purchased a cebora 3100 plasma cutter.
The air flow required for it is 60l/min 3.5 bar.
The question i want to ask is, can i run this machine off a pressurized air bottle? would it work and would a 7 litre bottle hold enough air for this machine too work for a reasonable amount of time??

Welcome to the forum, it's possible to calculate how long it would run if you know what pressure the bottle is filled to.

from what ive gathered its filled to 300 bar.

7l x 300bar = 2100l of air / 60lmin = 35mins of use give or take a bit.

do you know if you can get lead that connects a bottle to my cebora 3100 air inlet? (the inlet on the machine is a 8 or 10 ml thread)

Don't forget you'll need a regulator on the bottle to drop the pressure to 3.5bar before connecting any pipes.

I can't help thinking you're a bit out of your depth on this one. They are pipes, not cables, that connect the bottle to the plasma cutter and 300 bar is very dangerous territory for the unwary.

Where are you getting the bottle from?

Is that correct? I reckon the 2100 litres will be at 1 bar, so won't you get 2100/3.5 = 600 litres at 3.5 bar?

I am not expert on any of the above..I just want to know the best way to supply air into the plasma cutter that requires 60litre/min 3.5 bar using a air bottle rather than a air compressor the reason I don't want to use a compressor is because they are to big and heavy to cart around and I would need to buy another generator to supply electricity to it. if you cant answer a simple question like this I think you may be slightly out of your depth too )
and which one of the above formulas is correct? (it require 60 litres/min not 600)

Ah yes I see what you're getting at with the gas at 3.5bar - I think you're right - I was too quick thinking of it in shielding gas terms where it would only be at 1bar. TBH it seemed unlikely that you'd get 30+ mins use from a bottle - 10mins seems a lot more likely.

The figure I quoted was 600 litres total volume at 3.5 bar.
