Cebora pocket 130 wire feed set up question

Having bought a used Cebora, fitted some new parts, I want to start playing with it, so am starting on the set up. Are there any tips on getting the wire feed set up correctly? When setting the tension, is this done at any particular speed setting or doesn't it matter? I know I don't want the wire feed motor to slip on the wire, but once I have it not slipping, is that where I leave it set or is it like some nuts on cars that you set and then give a further 1/4 turn? I have some old CO2 that I will be using for the gas set up (probably more questions to follow on that!) and then I'll switch to Argon/CO2 for the actual welding.

Any other tips most welcome.

The way to set the tension on the pinch rollers is to set them so they slip when the wire is obstructed at the torch (use a block of wood &c). This makes sure that if the wire sticks it doesn't "bird's nest" where it enters the liner.

One setting suits all speeds.

Spent a bit of time at the weekend going over the welder as the wire speed seems erratic. Stripped down various parts, clean, lubricated, etc and wire speed seems much more consistent and adjustable, except when I put the tip on, when it starts to stutter/stick from time to time. Without the tip, the wire is easy to pull through. I have some spare tips which I will try this evening, but wondered if this was common/usual (eg duff tips).

If you're using gasless wire this may be 0.9mm dia so it will stick in a 0.8mm tip. I'm sure there will be variations between makes. Try sliding a small length of wire through the tip to see if it binds.

IIRC they tale standard M6 tips, so they are readily available. chech the tip's end. the hole can "bung up". It could also be the liner in the swan neck

if your torch was similar to mine that had the brass contacts, i had no end of problems as it became pitted and worn, it stuttered constanly, i was about to give up as mine had two fly leads as opposed to the normal one, but was pointed to a replacement torch on chinabay and it now welds a treat with constant equal flow
