Cebora pocket turbo trigger block trouble

Hello (hopefully) friendly hive mind. I'm new here and to forums in general. I'm looking for advice - I have a Cebora Pocket Turbo 130 which has suddenly started blowing the plastic plate off of the back of the brass trigger block. The old block ran fine since my grandad bought it new in the 80's right up until 3 weeks ago when there was a pop from inside the torch, gas started leaking and I discovered it had forced the plastic plate off. I've bought 2 replacement blocks with the neck attached (called a Swan neck if you look for it online), I've attached pictures. The first leaked gas from the captive brass nut in the plastic plate and the second one had the plate blown off as soon as I pressurised the system. ..... help?

In case it's significant - the dial on the regulator stopped working at the same time. It's now just reading as shown in the attached picture regardless of what I do. Doesn't sound like the gas is gushing out when I open the valve on the bottle though, just a gentle hiss

Does it blow off when you press the trigger?

If not it sounds like the regulator is duff. If there is nowhere for the gas to go it will build up pressure, but it doesn't gush out because of some restriction somewhere

It does release the built up pressure when I pull the trigger, but if I leave it for more than about 4 seconds the pressure becomes too great and I can't pull the trigger (I'm a blacksmith by trade so have a pretty strong grip). Leave it a few more seconds and the cap blows off, regardless of what it's glued on with

I'd try a new regulator first thing.

The reg has failed, I've seen those cheap ones blow the pipes off the welder, buy a decent one, a single stage, two gauge reg will cost you about £30 or so.

^^ And will have taken the gauge with it - assuming you use CO2 that's 50 bar into a 6 bar reg.

you can often buy the reg complete with an adapter to take the small push fit pipe

If you look the reg looks like a one for disposables adapted to fit a big bottle

Am I right in thinking that the plastic back plate is glued on or is it supposed to be kept in place by the o-ring and the tight fit of the block inside the plastic handle?

i used too take it in bits and use dash silicon to lube it when the o ring startd sticking
