Cebora / Snap on MIG 130 Turbo 1mm settings?

Hi guys,

At the moment im running on co2 but hope to get co2/argon soon.

Using 0.6mm wire on 1mm steel. Very hard to lay continuous bead. Can anyone give me some of their settings, even if slightly different thicknesses

Hi Boyo

Its difficult to get a continuous bead with 1mm steel you may start to blow through after 20mm distance as it gets a bit warm. Make tacks about an inch apart then
Try the on off or stich technique
settings 1 -min , 5th or 6th line on the feed works well for me
Check your sleeve is feeding nicely and that the pinch roller is not spinning
The 130 can get a bit juddery near the end of a roll of wire
Also make sure the torch cable is not coiled up,

That's great springer, nice to see what other people are using with similar sets.

I found it near on impossible to get a continuous bead on the 1mm using CO2, but stitch technique seemed to work a lot better.

Not a bad little unit to be fair and happy with my purchase. Looking forward to see how it runs with CO2 / Argon mix.

Can I ask do you use the same settings for spot welds on 1mm or do you crank the volts up a bit?

The 130 is a lovely little plug welder.
7mm holes, 2 min to 1 max setting on 1mm steel and a similar feed to stitching.
Avoid starting near the edge of the drilled holed as it will just melt it away
Start in the centre for a split second then stir out and let it flood out to edge.
I don't get such a good result on 8mm holes for some reason. probably just me.

I get good plug welds with 0.8 wire on 1.2mm material

I use C02/Argon gas and for a rookie I think I do ok.
Im not up to the standard of the pro's on here by a long way.

The cebora has been a great bit of kit, easy to set up and over the last year very reliable. There are stacks of spares out there for them as well.

Keep a couple of spare liners, and a tip shroud in your spares kit and you wont go far wrong with this mig

i too am new to welding and would like to know what to set the small size gas bottles to my welding time is only 4 hours with a snap-on 130 turbo
has been in my shed for over 25 years had to change the liner and make a new thenshioner strip the drive motor and fit new bearing and today is my first weld thanks

If you are using the small disposable bottles you will get through those in no time at all. You would be better looking for a local supplier of bigger, rent free bottles, or if you are doing a lot of welding look into the Volkszone deal from BOC - read up on the Gas forum.

We weld outside on the drive and set the gas to 10l per minute.

I use CO2 pub size bottles on my 130, I have made a 2" angle frame for the welder to sit in, just slightly longer than the machine to allow for the cylinder with 4 casters and a 2" angle post rising vertically at the back with the inside of the v pointing towards the cylinder so it slots into it, a small ratchet strap 3/4 of the way up secures it nicely. I run the gas at 7 lpm indicated on the gauge.
