Cellulose metallic

Hi guys, some **** has swiped my 9n3 polo. Im not too happy as they drove off, they hit it while it was parked.

I will get pics up tomorrow or the creased bumper, i would hope that the crease and be straightens out but im not sure. My question is, is cellulose any good when doing metallic, or should i risk dying and go for 2pac?

I dont have an airfed and have heard that you can use a good filter mask but im not willing to ....

A good respray at a shop is around £300 isnt it for a big bumper like on the 9n3

Or shall i just send it to the shop, as you may have seen my other thread and ive only ever done 1 wing, so i am an amateur.

But £60 in paint compared to a £200 - £300 sprayjob i have to consider painting it.

And i assume it has 2pac on it already, so i will need to completely strip it.

Metallics require basecoat and laquer.

the basecoat is usually single pack acryllic or celly, and the laquer can be single pack acryllic, celly or 2pack.

if you are worried about the fumes I would use the single pack base and laquer, it might need a bit of polishing compound to get a good finish though.

If you can spray it on a good calm sunny day outside then I would use the 2pack laquer, cos you will get a nice finish straight out of the gun.

I've used cellulose metallic before (an unfortunate incident involving borrowing my sister's car and accidentally crashing it). It does exist.

But I'd go for 2 pack base coat and lacquer for a bumper. Airfed is desirable as 2K gets into your skin and eyes too, but some suppliers will do masks which should filter it from your lungs.

I'd go for an independent shop - ask at your paint supplier for recommendations. I can't beat my own local guy in a garage for price once hassle has been accounted for.

celly metallic does not require lacquering. but do it right as you cant polish it much.

i sprayed my moped recently with celly. two colours one was metalic and one had pearl in it.
