Centrate tank and skips

Had a job from a local oil cleaning company to build a centrate tank and modify 2 14yard skips into filter tanks.

Not a great deal of work in them but it was fun all the same, skips have a lid made from 2mm sheet stich weled to a 30mm box frame and a lifting eye on top. Inside there is perforated steel sheet for the filter and a bauer connection to be fittedto the pipework. Inside on the floor is a sheet seam welded to form a 'drop' so the liquid can run to the out let pipe. 2 sections of 200x100 box section prop up the front of the skip.

Nice Job, its just got me thinking back to my past. Did they provide you with any specification for the flange orientation. From my very rusty memory we used to set 4 hole pattern flanges with the bolts at 45 to the horizontal and 8 hole pattern at 45 and 22.5 to the horizontal. But was just thinking was that just our own/plant standard or is there a recognised specification.

Thanks. We asked the customer about specs and he said he wasnt so fussed as different flanges and add on pipes would be used so different hoses can be attached as and when needed.

The skips will have liquid poured through that have debris in, with the debris collecting in the filter housing to be shoveled out when full.

The tank is to have dirty liquid poured in and you cant see too well on the pictures but there is a baffle plate for the liquid to flow over leaving the sedement to rest at the bottom of the tank, again to be shoveled out when full

Thanks Steve and yeah its not a bad shop. The lighting is poo but that down to me not having time to sort it out. If i stay working for myself i have the chance to knock through next door and take that over too

I think the tanks are just onestage of cleaning what ever liquid is going through them. The company cleans all kinds of stuff from oils to chemicals

A lot of oil is cleaned for 're-use ,usually referred to as "spun" oil.

Sounds like the carp we get pumped out of our sludge tank and bilges by Nicols tankers; 10% solids, 10-15% oil and the rest water.
