Chalk Sharpener

I "discovered" this item whilst searching for something else (sound familiar?). It was designed to sharpen tailor's chalk but it appears to work fine on French chalk sticks that many use for marking metal.

Interesting, but as I have many scattered about, I've always used a file; so never have to look for a specialized tool.

ah , ok thats his , not from the site ,,, got it , still rather surprised it works . Ill stick to my cordless grinder and a flap disc probably.

The added advantage of this method is brass and other "sticky" metals don't stick in the teeth as easily.

I've printed a couple in PLA. Both work well for the primary objective of sharpening tailor's chalk. Like others, in the workshop a coarse file works splendidly, and the chalk lubricates the teeth.

We tend to call it chalk over here. We also call chalk teachers once used on Black boards. Chalk. But we cant call them that now.

I would think the OP's plastic chalk sharpener wouldn't work very well on proper
welders soapstone, as it is much harder.
So it really is soapstone ? the pix looked like common soft chalk.

like our normal soapstone.

Taylor’s chalk is softer and comes as a flat disc.
