So, my ESAB Warrior tech helmet, lost the will to function towards the end of last year.
Got a cheap Lidl one to replace it.
Pulled the whole unit out the other day, sat it in the sun, it flickered, a bit, still dead.
Was going to bin it this morning... Then thought, I've nothing to lose, how does it open?
Well, not easily.
1) carefully run a Stanley knife, round the edge of the joint... Repeatedly....
2) using Stanley knife, carefully prise open unit.
3) locate battery. Held on top by two spots, Stanley knife again, and needle nose pliers.
4) the tag underneath is harder to remove, I didn't remove the board, oh no.
5) the battery is a 3v cr2450, with plastic round the edge. Hmm, why?
6) locate something similar a cr2025, isn't as thick, but hey?
7) slice plastic off old battery, to see which way round it goes. Polarity.
8) holding battery in with your finger on the top terminal, check it works by pointing it at the sun, for example... Notice finger, getting very hot on terminal!
9) cut off some insulation tape, that's why it got plastic on it, otherwise, the top contact shorts out the battery, cooking you finger!
If I had a soldering iron here, I'd solder it up, so wedged in with a suitable bit of dense foam works!
Bingo!
Pretty sure that pack of batteries was about 2 euros, cost of repair. Very little!
Don't cut your fingers!
