Cheap eBay mask

Hi all, been a member for a while and browser for years but this is my first post. Thanks in advance for any help or advice. I have a Clarke 151EN - had it about eight years but never used! Brother asked today if I still have it and can I make him something. Without rambling I need a mask soon and money is short right now - layed off a few weeks ago and now doing agency work!

Cheers for that, totally understand you get what you pay for, have been looking on eBay for ages but not yet had cause to actually make a purchase - till today! Seen shed loads on web for similar money but actually having a specific recommendation makes it easier to part with a few quid. Thanks again, Cal.

I got mine off the 'Bay, £30 iirc but there are loads around that price point. Perfectly adequate for my needs.

Cheers SBF, exactly the kind of advice I need, been looking at the bay for ages but always been a little sceptical about them. I know some are great for the money but always been worried about buying a lemon - I guess there all pretty much the same - probably from the same factory? Thanks, Cal.

I have two ebay £20 cheapies, nothing at all wrong with them, been abused dropped and battered and still working fine, one of them is at least 7 years old now.

I have a better quality helmet but just pick up whichever is closest, never feel the other is so much better I have to walk across the workshop for it, but I don't wear or weld with them all day, that may make a big difference.

I can't comment on how similar the masks £20 - £30 are. Probably similar. I've got the one linked above and found it clear and I'm really happy with it for tig welding...

After @Richard. pointed out there was film on the inside. I'd removed the outside

Thanks Steve - will probably go with an eBay cheapie, won't be doing much, just a hobby, but as said was sceptical about which one to go for - I suppose just get buy one and see is the best bet. My main concern has been the 'solar' thing - I do remember a thread about replacing a battery so if it does I will have a bash at that. Thanks, Cal.

I've had two cheapos from ebay over the last 8 yrs both with grinding mode installed reason why i had two is because i ran over the 1st with the van,nish wrong with um

Meant to add got an ESAB to,dont know which model etc but its good for underneath motors as it quite flat face,if that makes sense

Cheers Stalwart. Think that is probably the way to go. Brother had a similar issue with the 'running over' thing problem being it was a Sonnim (think that is the name) phone (Landover branded thing iirc) there was a video of it happening - marketing ploy? He gave it a try with his jimny and didn't go well! Got a replacement though! Thanks for the advice, Cal.

Welding with a lump of green film over the inner lol
