Cheater lenses

I'm thinking of getting a cheater lens for my welding helmet to stop the reflections in my specs but i don't know which strength to get because my eyes are slightly different as are most peoples i guess.My left is + 1.00 & my right is +1.25 so do i go for the stronger or weaker lens of the two ?

I'd go for the stronger or even a 1.5 as it is only really a magnifying glass for when you are welding. If you are worried about it affecting your eyes it would be advisable to ask your optician really.

I asked her this afternoon Pete,she had never even heard of such a thing as a lens to use while welding so said she couldn't offer any advice

I have found that the strength of my reading glasses are determined by the distance at which I use them. for reading i take a +2.5 at around 14" for my computer sitting about 24" from the screen I only need a +1.5, Figure out your most used distance when welding then nip into the local £1-00 shop and try different strengths at your average welding distance,I have a +2.5 in my mask and it's brilliant.

I have just got a cheater lens for my welding helmet and am well please with it, no steamy windows.
My glasses are 1.25 1.5 but I went with a 2 and love it.

Mine are 1.5 and 1.75, I asked my optician which to go for and she said go for the 2.

I have got a couple of fire extinguishers he is in charge of so he never gets that close
