More skill with grinder than welder

For some time now, my son has been wanting to watch me weld. He is well aware of the dangers of arc eyes. He did watch me once when he was young, but the spare mask for people watching was too clausterphobic for him. At first I had a card board beer tray with an 11 lens in it. This was not kid safe and I changed it to a card board box with a T shirt stapled to it. The one time he watched, he had the T-shirt with cardboard box. Seeing that it is a lazy sunday, I took some old pieces of leather that was hacked from a couch someone threw away and assembled a leather mask for him. The frame of a worn out pair of Jackson grinding goggles was used as a basis. Check the following photies...
This is the front of the mask. The bib is quite long.
Here you can see the jackson goggles glued in place and the strap running through the leather to help with the carrying of the weight.
The goggle setup.... The stitching is not flame proof. The glue used to glue the lens to the goggle is a polyurethane glue that works well with the goggles and the glass. It can handle 90 degrees. The lens is glued to the leather with silicone for high temperatures.
Yeah, I know! always looking good with specs on!
The rear comes almost all the way around on my head.
