Choosing correct paint?

I've got two sets of my own 'not the ones in my other thread' wheels from my trackcar that need painted, I know someone will suggest powder coating but I don't want powder coating.

So, what am I better off with, Cellulose, Waterbased or 2pack?

I don't have any fancy full face respiratory systems.

if you don't want anything fancy get some straight to metal paint, forget water based, if you go along the base coat route then get some 1k laquer

So, I'm assuming anything 2K I need the full respiratory system?

I'm not going back to metal though, it will be over the existing powder coat, I'll tidy up the powder coat before painting though.

Going by what I've worked out so far Etching primer is what to use if down to alloy and Epoxy is what to use if down to metal.

What should I use for a base coat, considering I'm going over powder coat?

best would be epoxy primer , basecoat and 2k clear coat

if you dont have the breathing gear then that limits you to 1k which isnt no where near as durable , if its a rough n ready track car maybe any old enamel would spruce them up

So Primer will be Epoxy, Laquer will be 1K what about the actual paint it's self then?

1k Basecoat is normally used as it doesn't react. Just thin it down with thinners, doesn't need hardener.

yeah there isnt a isocyanate bascoat so no issues there , anything you put hardner with is likley to be iso

I hear the upol 1k smart clear is supposed to be pretty good as 1k products go. UV resistant and good wear resistance.
