Choosing Sino dro linear encoder length

About to pull the trigger on a set for my Hembrug AI lathe.
The travel on my x axis is 195mm, would a 200 mm scale be ideal, or would a 240 mm be easier to install?
It is going to be the ka200 (16x16mm) scale because of space limitations.

I think the length I order is the travel length?
So that a KA200-200 can travel 200mm?

Possibly. A longer scale can sometimes be easier to fit to give you more space to mount

Check the travel length then mounting holes to ensure you can fit it where you want.

Apparently nominal length is travel, will check the exact mounting hole position first.

When I bought my first DRO setup I was surprised at how much longer the scale housing was compared to the travel. Something like 140mm if I remember correctly.
