Hi, guy's and gal's. This weekends project, As usual no build pic's but everything is pretty self explanatory.
The price of small quantities of steel is ridiculous, So its nice to use my freeby horseshoes, This will be a surprise present for my daughter, She supplies the shoes, She sent me a pic of a similar tree but it was made with the shoes the wrong way up. (with the "luck") running out, so decided to make this one the correct way, Bit of a fiddle required to make the shoes contact each other for a good appearance, but all worked out well in the end, got to give it a couple of thin coats of paint to keep all the nail hole details etc visible, The top shoe that i have closed the ends is unusual in so much as it has 12 nail holes, Never ever seen one with so many holes before. Don't know if it was made like that so that the farrier could pick and choose the best holes to use,

I have also made a heart shape in polished stainless to dangle from a short chain inside the top shoe, Going to engrave it with daughters family names and the date. Hopfully it will still be in yearly use when I'm looking at the wrong side of the grass.

That looks good Gordon, what did you use for the base...it looks a bit like a disc off some agricultural equipment.

Hi Wyn, Not a farm disc although it does look similar I have had that piece hanging about for a while, Believe I salvaged the base from a modern standard lamp, !2 inch dia X 1/4" thick, nice solid bit of kit,

Christmass tree now painted, Also made a coat hook rack, really must get some other projects started, these horseshoes are begining to drive me around the bend The paint is Aldi. Supposed to be for bare metal, Must say i have never had a problem with it.
