We've had this artificial tree for 17-18years, and for the last 10 it's been an effort to get the tree straight. It's in 4 pieces, about 10' in height, and well worn at this stage, so much so that the tree bolts used to steady it have made three big dents where they meet the 'trunk' of it.... meaning it was now impossible to set it up straight and true
So this year I finally got around to modifying the stand:
....made use of an old brake disk by cutting off the friction surface. Got a piece of 60mm pipe from Moffatt's engineering. Also got my eldest to stick-weld the disk to the stand (I think he was humouring me by showing any interest ), and I used the mig to weld the pipe to the center of the disk
So this year I finally got around to modifying the stand:
