Church weather vane

Made this about a year and a half ago, it is finally being fitted this coming Monday after the scaffold has been removed!!!? Dont ask!

Saw an article in the local Lauderdale quarterly rag that the church weather vane had been destroyed in a storm so contacted the church and offered to replace it with one of their choice F.O.C. After several meetings by the church elders and contacting historic Scotland it was finally decided that the choice would be in the hands of Captain Gerald Maitland-Carew. I was summoned to Thirleston castle for tea and freshly made shortbread and given my orders on what to make, "He thought it would be fitting a shepherd leading his flock" It stands 1400mm tall and is 1300mm across all parts were supplied laser cut.

If you are in the area this weekend there is an autocross at Sprouston near Kelso on Sunday kick off at 1200 midday if you are into 4x4 may interest you! Just look for the orange direction flags.

With no scaff, who's doing the fitting and, for creating such a beautiful work of church art will see you in good stead for a place in the land of never ending Guinness which is located left hand side of pearly gates

BTW, how is Gerald these days, he really is a good old spud?

I have booked my place in hell thought it would be a more exciting party hoping to bump into a few ex's as well!!

K2 steeplejack's are doing the fitting the crane is booked for first thing Monday morning the rest will be from a ladder. Pity arthuritus is setting into my ankle would have done it myself.NOT!

I shot my goos first thing this morning!!

Hi installation took place this morning crane was there at 8.00 sharp the steeplejacks arrived at 1/4 past set up their ladders got the vane lifted into place then the $hit hit the fan the church was all shut up (thought a church door was always open!?) anyway phoned the church elder that was supposed to be there no answer called his moby switched off.
Must be an extended church outing so off I wanders to the post office to get his address no one at home, wanders down to the police station to find out if they know of any keyholders no joy, pops into the bank to see if they know of anyone turns out the girl in the nursery is the daughter of a keyholder nursery is closed school holiday for a week no help there. Last resort nips in to the Black Bull Hotel bingo "May Steels" number eventually gets the door open by this time it is 10.30 where does all the time go?

Eventually gets the vane into place some lead work to be done to seal everything off so should be complete by early afternoon have to go back at 4 pm for a photo by the local paper they are going to put in an article this week, knew it would get some advetisment.
