This is just to show a result of citric acid on some brake drums i got for my moggy 1000, The drums are Wolsley 1500 larger drums so a bit of a period upgrade. I think most citric acid powder is the same so i used this from Ebay.
The drums came off car that had been sat a few years and even after a clean off looked like this.
I used about 1/2 and egg cup full and added water at about 80c, After 48 hours with a few stirs they came out and got cleaned off with a brush and then a coarse stainless scourer and they looked pretty good.
As they are going on my own car i gave them a decent coat of etch primer and then a finish of satin black.
The paint inside the drums was cleaned off with emery paper so they should just drop straight on and work nicely.
