Or this one in particular. So I found a clamp meter on the pavement and no one has claimed it on face ache so I’ll look after it.

it turns on etc and works with probes but clamping it round a wire of a running machine does nothing. Am I being thick? I thought the clue was in the name?!?!

You clamp around one conductor only or it won't work.

You need to measure one core at a time.

was trying it out as I’m not a sparky! Measured single cores and it works. Result.

you can get clamp meters that can read of multicore cables but most don't

Just had a quick look it looks like a well-speced meter it's also supposed to be CAT III rated.
