clamping fixture

hi all, does anyone know of a clamping fixture that wil clamp a piece of 40mm ally box section at 90 degrees to another piece, so that the branch piece can be slid along and clamped in the desired position. does this make sense ?.
I am building a motorcycle carrier to fit the back of a motorhome and would like some form of adjustment to the vertical steady post that the bike will be straped to. I seem to recall seing something like this on part of a conveyer systems support leg arrangment but so far all my searches on the web have drawn a blank.
I will post some pics when its finnished if anybody is intrested.

I think most corner clamps will have the facility to be able to do that.

I think i have the wrong end of the stick there..!? You dont want a clamp to make it, you want a clamp to use on it permanently!?

why not just make a steel box section T that will slide along the beam and hold the branch

I want to use it as a permanent fixture. The one i recall seeing i think was made of plastic/nylon and wrapped around the horizontal section with a socket for the branch piece to fit. It was clamped on permanently by socket screws as a permanent fixture, but could be removed or adjusted by slackening the screws. Hope this helps a little more

Sounds a bit dodgy, a motorcycle is a heavy piece of kit, I would not trust a clamped joint in this instance, for a pushbike, maybe.

I think I know what your trying to do, mostly motorhome motorcycle carrying setups either have one or two vertical padded posts you strap the bike leaning onto, or they have to loops low down one either side of the bike.
But I have seen a clamp which goes on the vertical posts which has a arm and an inverted U shape which fits over the seat to hold the bike upright.

For the clamp you'd have to fab one up, box section with a keeper bolt, however Id be very lary of having a bike up on the rack held with just the U clamp and would prefer to strap anyway... The real enemy of the design is vibration from buffetting and road bumps over a long trip working a bolted clamp loose so that a few hundred miles into your day the bike just drops off.
If your going to make something with alterable positions, perhaps it might be better to have a series of holes and a collar which can be slid to various hole positions, that way your relying ont he bolt staying in the hole rather than maintaining clamping pressure. Could have a splitpin or R clip through the bolt once tightened as a security feature. Still prefer straps I can wind down and twang at the services meself though...
