Clarke 4 Port 20Amp Pressure Switch on Burisch / Wolf Compressor

Hi,
I bought a Burisch 3HP 14CFM a while ago, basically the same as the Wolf Dakota I had settled for. So following a few mods on here , I bough a Clarke In Line Air Regulator.

Decided to finally fit the regulator today and as it’s so much bigger than the stock one I had to remove the Pressure Switch as well. By mistake I also bought a Clarke 4 Port 20 Amp Pressure Switch so decided to fit that in place of the stock one, wouldn’t hurt I thought.

Well on re-assembling everything it seems that the bottom threaded opening that fits onto the tank fitting is too big!!!
The stock is (I think) 1/4 BSP and the bottom of the Clarke Pressure Switch appears to be 3/8 BSP?

Can anyone confirm this and should I just fit a 3/8 to 1/4 BSP reducer? Male 3/8 to female 1/4 BSP?

A reducing bush should be fine. It won't add any more than a couple of mm extra height either, so the smaller pipe should still reach comfortably.

If you were looking for maximum air flow, that 1/4 tank outlet pipe and the bush will reduce the flow that the 3/8 Clarke regulator could have delivered.
One solution to supply air-hungry tools is to tap off from one of the end-bungs on the tank.

Yes I think I’ll get a second regulator and add a connection in the end of the tank.

I have done exactly that, I bought my ABAC portable air compressor missing it's pressure regulator and gauges. The wire were bridged to show the motor and pump was working. I bought an Italian made pressure regulator and fitted it to the air tank using a new threaded bar to convert from 3/4 to 1/2. Compressor works just fine a few years down the line...make sure you also fit a good quality water trap and drain the tanks regularly too...something I need to do when I get to the garage today...
