Clarke Airmaster Tiger 14/60 Oil Filling

I have the following compressor:

I am changing the oil, so I have undone the oil level sight and drained all the oil out. When refilling it, is it normal that you can only poor a little bit in, then have to wait for the oil settle before you can add anymore? Also whats the foam thing thats located inside the tube you put in the oil in?

My compressor took a wile to fill. There is no vent so you need time for the oil to gurgle in.

The foam probably is to keep the oil from splashing out (or oil vapor.)

If it's like my Clarke compressor you have to take the whole breather assembly off the crankcase as there is a ball valve in it which will restrict the oil flow.

As Shenio says, the foam is to stop oil leakage.
