hi all, my first post, new to this but been reading the forums for a few weeks, vat free day coming up at mm and i want a compressor, seems the bigger the better, so what about se29d270nd 28 cfm, 270 ltr on single phase, says 30 amp supply min. electrics no problem. will it do everything, ie spraying, blast cabinet, air tools. i know it's not cheap but if i say it was an ebay bargain, i might get away with it

Blast cabinet may be pushing it depending on nozzle size fitted but the rest shouldn't be a problem..... hmm... how much of a bargain????

a 28cfm compresor will run a blastpot with 3mm nozzle fine at a constant at 85 - 90psi pressure no probs i have one

whatever u can get at the right price new or second hand
preferably belt driven even if u get 2 -14cfm comps and couple the tanks together is a good option

bought one vat free.

went in to mm today and bought that 28 cfm jobby, made wife stay outside cos it said invitation only. picking it up friday. what are their air tools like? and what size reg and filters and other gubbins should i get for it? didn't want to buy em today incase i bought the wrong stuff.

u want half inch water seperator and regulator and use eurofittings not the small pcl ones for main airline as it will restrict the volume. then use a y piece on the end of it to use one eurofitting and also the pcl outlet / pcl for standard airtools and spraygun euro for your sandblasting gear. its preferable to make a few meter lead up with pcl fittings to plug in to the long hose as this makes it easier using the airtools

picked up my compressor yesterday, chuffin big thing. all i have to do now is wire it in ( and buy some stuff to use with it ). wiring it into my consumer unit, to an rcd protected 40 amp mcb, using 10mm twin and earth. question is, does it have to be a radial circuit or can i do a ring main and use it for a welder and maybe a lathe ( not all at the same time ) ?

are u hard wiring it in to supply . what rating fuse do they advise to run it on ??if its less than 40 amp it would be best to conect a 2 or a 3way distribution board on the end of the 10mm cable then if its only 30 amp run a 4mm radial cable to a ceeflex 30 amp socket and plug the comp in . if the welder is 30 amp that would be fine as well .if its less it would need a 20 amp or a 16 amp socket. the lathe would probably only be 13 amp plug in that would give u 3 circuits

it says run from 30 amp supply min, i am also installing a separate consumer unit for garage with 16 amp and 6 amp supply fed from a splitter (henley box) to do things like normal ring main for sockets and also a radial lighting circuit. is a distribution board just another name for a consumer unit?. and by the way, cheers for the reply and info

thanks for that, i'm not well up on regs and such for sparks, only do a bit of electrics being a gas man.
