I'm thinking of saving up for a Clarke 3hp 150 liter "Blueline" compressor this summer, they're "British" apparently, anybody used these machines, are they as good as they sound?
I've had a 3hp 150 litre SE16C150 for years and I've been very pleased with it. Apart from having to sort a couple of manufacturing faults out when I first got it.
They may be assembled in the UK, and the motor may possibly be UK made but the pump will either be Italian or Chinese. I don't reckon they will be any better than other makes.
Having said that, I know that Ingersoll Rand have made the T30 in India !!!
As Tigler has said, very little chance any of the compressor is UK made, we simply are not competitive anymore hence why we have little manufacturing unless backed by global companies. To get a made in Britain badge you only have to assemble in that country, which of course totally wrong and totally misleading.
That said, I have 5 hp approx 30 cfm Clarke jobby which i got secondhand 8 years ago plus now. It still works fine a few silly problems with it but very minor, the biggest issue is machine mart not not knowing there back side from their elbow with spares and if its not on a list they are totally useless and cant get any information what so ever... so for me that says it all about being made in Britain Bull... c_ _ p
Quite agree re: the Chinese ones. But the Italians,as long as you don't ask them to do any fighting make some top class machines of all sizes.I have worked on their Nuovo Pignone compressors that were Massive and pumped to over 15000psi.
