Clarke PE16C50 compressor

My first use of this compressor (3 Hp, 14 cf displacement) was very disappointing. I tried the impact wrench on 10mm air hose and there is insufficient air to the tool. It will not even remove wheel nuts with 9 bar pressure. Should I replace the regulator as it seems the air delivery is very poor.. I did not expect to remove the end plug and have to fit a 1/2" inlet regulator on this specification of compressor.
Incidentally, the wrench works fine as I used it at my friends garage.
Any advise appreciated. Thanks

Seems most compressors come with useless regulators these days.

I think that some of the time manufacturers supply compressors with these restrictive regulators to ensure it gets beyond the warranty period.

Just had a look at the spec on that compressor. JFYI the air output is given as 14cfm displacement, that will translate to about 8-9 cfm FAD.
