Having searched the web your welding site seemed to have questions and answers re compressors so hoping someone can help?
I recently bought the above compressor as a non runner, initially for the tank but if I can get it running would be a bonus.
Having removed the motor rear cover I found the cooling fan in 3 pieces and evidence that repairs had been attempted, looks like a replacement run capacitor has been fitted by twisting cables as in the photo. All turns freely, motor and pump, not seized.
Was planning to remove the motor from the pump and get it checked out but having removed obvious fasteners motor casing just spins round, didn't want to break out the hammers just yet!
If anyone has one of these compressors or experience of them you may be able to offer some advice which would be gratefully received and much appreciated.
1) How is the motor fixed to the pump, do I need to dismantle the pump?
2) In order to check the winding what values should I get across cables? There are a pair of Red and Blue cables connected to the left of the connector block with 3 on the other side Red, Blue, Black!
Not an electrician so not sure if these are start up and run coils? 2 capacitors 200 and 65 uf start and run I guess and a thermal switch? There was also a jumper between the top and middle terminals on the right hand side of the connector block (Red and Blue wires).
Unfortunately no detail plate on the motor, speed, 2 or 4 pole etc so not sure what to buy as a replacement if burnt out!
Although fitted with a 3 pin 13 amp plug was planning to run off of my generator as have very sensitive trips and no dedicated supply, having heard start up current can exceed 13 amps. Did initially plug in but immediately tripped the power to the house, wife not impressed!!!!!!!!!!!!
Regards and a Happy Christmas.
