Clarke SE36c270 Air Compressor Spares

Hi

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I have a SE36c270 Air Compressor that has a pump fault, I have stripped it down and it looks like the valves need replacing so will change the piston Rings and gaskets at the same time. Had an air leak into the piston shaft casing. Should I cahange the valve plate as well or is this not required, Clarke sell the valve plate with the valves for £75 + Vat.

Anywhere other than Clarke that will sell these spares, I been doing google searches but cant find any suppliers.

Any help appreciated.

i don't recognise the part of top of my head but must confess to never needing to take the cylinder head off a pump yet... try a local engineering supplier that deals in tools as well they might have parts lists etc and be able to find the part

RE-Clarke SE36c270 Air Compressor Spares

I have managed to source a used pump from a Clarke 150 Litre tank that I can make fit my 270 litre tank.
What are the implications if I use this pump, will it fill my 270 litre tank, the 150 litre tank is 150 psi the same as the 270 but I guess the cfm will be different.
Also need to know if it will be safe as well.

Any help appreciated, not to clued up on these beasts.

It will be safe as long as the tank itself isn't damaged.

The CFM could well be different, it depends on the oriiginal compressor the new pump came off. If the HP of the motors is the same you'll be in the same ballpark.

CFM depends on the RPM, number of cylinders, bore and stroke.

Your original pump looks like a two-stage, which AFAIK tend to be higher pressure and lower CFM.

It will most likely take longer to fill.

The motor on my original compressor is bigger than the donor compressor so Im guessing the HP on mine will be higher than the donor. Am I still ok to continue.

as long as the RPM is the same on both motors carn't see a problem

The pullies may be different, if the one on the bigger motor is larger than the one on the smaller motor and the pump pullies are the same you may overspeed the pump.

(RPM pump) = (rpm motor) * (dia motor) / (dia pump)

Yes I was thinking similar but was going to try and change the pulley's, the original does have a bigger wheel and it is 30cfm and googling a 150 litre tank this is about 14cfm, how does this affect the specs if I put the smaller pump on the larger tank.

As MK says, check that the rpm of the motors is the same, if so fit the pulley from the smaller motor to the original motor and keep the pulley on the new pump.

If you haven't got the pulley off the smaller motor, then fit the bigger pulley to the pump, this should stop it overspeeding. Potentially this could develop higher pressure, but make sure the safety valve and cut-out are set so that the safe working pressure of the tank isn't exceeded.

As I said earlier, fitting a smaller pump to a bigger cylinder just means it takes longer to fill up.

Just remember you will be producing very expensive air as your motor is 7.5HP, where as you would only need 3HP for the smaller pump, sledgehammer to crack a nut type of thing, you should be able to pick up a big compressor quite cheap seeing you have three phase, or even a 3HP three phase motor.

I am actually falling over compressors in the last couple of days, funny how things work out, been struggling for a few weeks using my small 100 litre back up.

Got one to see today locally, bigger than my original and in full working order,guy only wants £70, taking up space.

My original is in too good nick to scrap so will probably just spend out the £200 on spares from Clarke to repair the pump.

My donor compressor which I was told was busted I found only had leak at one of the ports on the tank which I have fixed and the compressor is working a treat.

What a crazy world.

Anyway should be sorted now so again thanks to all for taking the time to give your advice.
