I'm so envious of anyone who makes sculptures, for two reasons
1) I suck at anything arty
2) Where do they get the time, I don't even have time to do projects that culminate in useable objects, the thought of spending time to make something that has no function beyond asthetics is alien to me.

As above, the man hours in them must be enormous.

I am the same..can't visualise something in my mind and transfer it into an 'object', other than bog standard stuff etc, would love to have an arty side to my skills..

Also get depressed when I think about the car's we scrapped over the years, ton's of stuff that could have been used for sculptures.

Not as many man housr as you think, this stuff is mass produced in a factory in Thailand.
Note how they are both identical in outlines, the heads are identical. I bet they have a mould in which they weld an armature then just weld the gubbins over the top of it.
There is no sense of flow or belonging to any of the components.
This kind of stuff can work well but it takes time and care to get the components to relate to each other.

Ahh, but you have the same amount of time as everyone else....you're just doing different [and probably more productive] things with it.
