Iv put the final pictures up in there own thread of my own build CNC table, I did a couple of test cuts on Monday, and have spent the last couple of days knocking the bugs out the Machine, one caused by a motor not being de swarfed when built by Mr chong., all in all I'm very pleased I did two "proper" cuts of copper for a Friends home build manipulator this afternoon, the pictures of the rings in galvanized are the dummy run..........

I'm not expecting to produce as such on the table, but it will be extremely handy for some of the one offs I make, and could save days sometimes in machining time....

The build has cost around 2K in total, including software, (except autocad), like any project, theres bits I'm not happy with at the mo, and changes Id make on a second table, mind the hours that have gone into this one, make that unlikely in the near future...

Why've you changed torches?

yes Phil all my own work, the hypertherm will cut 1" clean (1 1/4 severance), Hitch cables look far too delicate strewn across the floor......

Archie good spot, initial idea was a machine torch quote for £680 smackers put that to pay, so I bought a starparts hand torch (for a hypertherm) and taped the ignition harness, trouble is its Italian ****e, so it only pilots first time about 50% of the time, so I swapped, so iv put the hypertherm on the machine, and kept the cheep torch for hand cuts, where it doesn't matter if I have to click the trigger a couple of times....

Ah. I thought you might have been testing it with the original and had then put a new one on later. What's the advantage of the machine torch, other than the fact that it is straight?

Remote on off, instead of torch trigger
I think they are metal bodied aswell, so can cope with the longer running times....

depends on how fussy I am with changing them, there easy to change a small tack on the ends dropped into a slot

ermm not a huge amount, slightly higher D/C, the remote start is an easy jig, just a splice on 2 wires, that machine cuts the motion if the torch loses current, the remote start and tip voltage board are wired directly into the hypertherm....

Awesome work.

Maybe you could make some "spikes" on the machine like found on a laser cutters bed. Much less likely to slice through them as obviously theres less surface area. A bit of a catch 21 when you was making it but now its up and running they should be a pleasure to make.

If you ever have the energy to reproduce such a machine i'd be seriously interested in buying 1.

I didn't want to be so rude but have to agree that beautiful piece needs a painted and polished floor to sit on.
