Coalescent oil filter issue?

I seem to be dropping a lot of pressure through my oil filer and it doesn't seem to catch any oil.

Please have a look at the vid and let me know what you think.

Are you having a problem with oil in the air ? The trap on your regulator with the gauge will be taking a lot out of the air before it gets to the second filter. Try swapping them round on the line

The problem is by the time the air has gone through my belt and out to the gun I am only getting 2 bar at the gun and really want 2.5 bar at the gun.

No oil problem, just seems strange that the trap has not caught any oil, seems like a waste of £70.

I don't think you will see any oil in the bowl as its the oil droplets and other micro small droplets that are suspended in the air that it is supposed to filter. Ones that have passed through the filter - regulator. I would have thought if the filter is damp it may cause a restriction. Has it been working ok or have you just fitted it

I never get any oil, just water with a very slight milky look to it. But as the trap is self ventilating/emptying you never notice the water.

If you are getting a lot of pressure drop it might be your flexible hose. I use 10mm (3/8 inch) bore about 7 metre length and don't seem to have a problem getting well over 40 PSI at the gun if wanted.

Same here, I use a 10mm hose, just plugged in the gun with the 1m long 10mm tail and got the same thing. Looks to me like the pressure is being dropped in the oil filter, I send the link to the pace that I bought it from and see what they say.

Looking at your setup again, I don't have a coalescer only a filter-regulator. I also have a small diposable dessicant filter about 2ft away from the compressor outlet, that does restrict the flow but I can still manage 40+ PSI.

No airfed mask though, my setup is just for spraying.

the way i look at it is if you are not getting any oil in the trap thats a good thing it means the compressor is in good condition and every thing is doing its job as it should and not letting the oil into the air!!

when you have the reg set at 2.5 bar and you get a drop of half a bar at the gun that sugests to me that there is something restricting the flow weather it be the internal diameter of some of the fittings or the fact that there is an extra filter after the regulator it could even be the length of your air line?

I spoke to the ebay seller (very helpful guy) he suggested removing the filter from the bulb and to check with it out and report back.

Are you sure of the accuracy of your gauges ?

what cfm are the filters rated for ? they may not be high enough to supply the air required to keep the pressure high especially if the gun is rated at a higher cfm then the filters

After looking at your video. What type of quick release couplings are you using?
It looks like there may be a difference in port size between the regulator and the coalescing filter. I'm not sure if it makes a difference but could the adaptors be restricting the air flow.
