Combined filter oiler

I have a combined filter oiler that I've never actually used (still in the box).

I've just bought a plasma cutter and would like to add a filter just after the compressor (the plasma cutter has a filter but I understand that the driest air possible is best).

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to plumb the filter without the oiler - but I was wondering if I could use the whole set but without filling it with oil - or am I going too far in my cost saving and should I just go and buy a single filter?

if it wont seperate just use as is and dont use oil

On some there is a removeable blanking plug in between, or at least on some of the larger norgren ones there is. (Probably won't apply to yours if you have a compact unit)

We used to take dry air to blow over an infra red camera lens and oiled air tapped off it downstream for actuators.

Can you post a pic ?. Most of the cheaper type (Aldi etc) The 2 units are bolted together and sealed with an 'O' ring. the separate units are already threaded in each port, just separate the units and refit the fitting.
