Love that, those little Aldi compressors are 2.5 hp each and you can pick them up second hand for about £40, so there’s about 150 litres and around 18 scfm for not a lot of money
danger is they have to run so long to fill the larger receiver they constantly run hot and thermal out , get smelly and pack in ,,, other than that ,,, why not.
That won’t be a problem in this particular case as the pumps are very large in comparison to the cylinders they were connected to, so a 100 litre tank added would be no problem when shared by 2 , I have one of these compressors, iI’ll go from empty to full in not much over 1 minute, I’d guess that those 2 pumps would compress all of those tanks in under 4 minutesdanger is they have to run so long to fill the larger receiver they constantly run hot and thermal out , get smelly and pack in ,,, other than that ,,, why not.
Similar too the set up I’m looking into 2x 200ltrs 2x13.8cfmI have 2 large comps under the bench connected with a link pipe...2nd one kicks in at anything below 55psi to piggy back the 1st one. This set up gives me lots of storage but not 2 pumps going at the same time...The gas bottle i made for filling and pumping the van tires up if too far from the pipe length outstretched.

best make sure they are on fresh oil ,,, chinese export [ CE ] wont hack it ,, dont forget your also drawing air from the system too ,,, but no harm in giving it a go .That won’t be a problem in this particular case as the pumps are very large in comparison to the cylinders they were connected to, so a 100 litre tank added would be no problem when shared by 2 , I have one of these compressors, iI’ll go from empty to full in not much over 1 minute, I’d guess that those 2 pumps would compress all of those tanks in under 4 minutes
They don’t come with oil, you have to fill them with oil, what do you mean by drawing air?best make sure they are on fresh oil ,,, chinese export [ CE ] wont hack it ,, dont forget your also drawing air from the system too ,,, but no harm in giving it a go .
the cylinders wont just fill and stop , depending on what your running the compressors may take a long time to reach turn off pressure , the air being drawn off will have an effect on the run time of the compressors . a single dynabrade die grinder gives a fairly decent compressor a hard time if your working it hard. They don’t come with oil, you have to fill them with oil, what do you mean by drawing air?
theres a reason cheap compressors are cheap , and dear ones arent cheap ,,,, but best of luck with the set up.Yeh I understand that, but 2 x 2.5 HP compressors for such a cheap outlay was
my point, it obviously has its limitations but when it costs £650for a similar single compressor with only 3 HP it’s a good DIY way to get a lot more for less.
Absolutely agree, but if you’re not in the presence of cash and you’ve a couple of small compressors which can be linked, then why not.theres a reason cheap compressors are cheap , and dear ones arent cheap ,,,, but best of luck with the set up.
