hey everyone,
im after some help and advice for a first time compressor.
ive been playing with different ideas on making my own as i need something that would be fairly portable but large enough to run an air gun for car work.
basically i dont have any real space to work on my car so its mostly done at the roadside, but as we all know there are times when an airgun can make a job go a lot easier when removing or replacing bolts.
im looking for something that would be fairly portable but with enough guts to run an air gun to remove bolts when needed.
i was thinking of using some of the following sorts of cylinders for holding enough air to run the gun, im good with diy and mechanics and feel it would not be beyond my skills to make one if feasible.
old gas cylinders (co2, methane, 02 etc), old diving cylinders, or old propane gas cylinders like you would use for a barbeque.
now this may show the limits of my knowledge with respect to this hence the advice needed, but i figured that pretty much all of the cylinders above during normal duty hold 10s/ 100s of times the pressure i would need to run an air gun so would be acceptable to use (maybe even out of test date) as the basis for a home made compressor.
failing these being usable i will go for option two which would be if any members on here could suggest a good portable compressor that is not going to kill my wallet, i know this might be a difficult thing to find and im not expecting miracles just some good advice.
thanks for any help you can provide.
