so i went to turn the compressor on so i could use the hypertherm.
and nothing.
so first, check the fuse, and it was blown.... strange, but anyway put a new fuse in.
turned it on again and the motor hummed for 4 secs then stopped.
fuse blown again....
managed to get the fan cover loose on the back of the motor enough to try turn the fan to see if motor was locked.
and the fan moved easy and you could hear the popping of air as you span it around.
so not a seized motor etc.
so later that night i wondered if it had a starter... dont remember seeing one, but then wasn't really looking at that time.
so i went and check and found it did and was easy to get to.
and well i think i found the issue.
the end has popped out, so clearly gone.... probably the original one fitted to the compressor.
bought the other one in the photo from CPC...
unfortunately the cable isn't long enough to reach inside the connection box. when its fitted in same spot as the old one.
So, NO 1. do i drill a hole in the side of the box (same size as cable) for the cable to go thru.
or NO 2. drill a hole in the side but at 20mm. and use the gland that was in the bottom.
but i dont have a 20mm tap and the gland screws into ports that are threaded in the bottom of the box.
( il get a photo in a bit of the box. )
NO 3, extend the cable of the new starter with some from the old starter. staggering the joints, soldiering and heatshrink, so cable will be long enough to go in thru the bottom hole in the box.
Here is the box
