Compressor and pump

Has anybody got any thoughts on this deal:

it seems to be very cheap, is it too good to be true?!?

dunno realy but a 5.5hp motor on a 14cfm is rather large a 3hp motor is well adequate 5 and a half hp motors are generally dear

That was my thinking - even without the compressor the price seems cheap for just a 5hp motor

If buying to use as a compressor you will then need to get a receiver and all the other bits, assuming you don’t already have one....probably as cheap/less hassle to buy a complete unit.
Also need a big supply to run 5.5 Hp motor when you could run the same size compressor from a 13a plug, though not an issue if you already have 32 a supply.

Double garage is about to double in size, so looking at a rewire and power upgrade so putting a dedicated supply in wouldn’t be an issue.
I’d be looking at replacing the pump and motor on this https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/aerograph-compressor.101315/
Would the fact that the motor is oversized for what’s theoretically required for this cfm mean it’ll have an easier life and not be worked as hard? Thinking even if the motor quality isnt great but wouldnt be working flat out...

no problem using the bigger motor it has less work to do for size of pump its running

I think the sudden change in pricing strategy answers all my questions, not the sort of person to deal with for me.

Quite often if there's no stock the seller makes the price ridiculously high so that they can maintain the auction presence. Don't ask me why

Check his other items, clearly drop shipping and putting huge prices on items until a fresh stock arrives, then back to his original - saves on relisting fees I suspect.
