compressor auto drain (float type, cheap on ebay)

Yes, inside is the the auto drain element that fits in the bottom of a regulator / filter unit

I looked at them but actually fitted an auto timed unit that works very well and was about the same price.

I have two that are more rugby ball shaped, can’t think of who made them but can be fitted anywhere as don’t need an electric supply. Inside is a little float that operates a valve when the level rises

havent seen that type before, but fitted a chinesium timed one a while back, no problems. I have it on a timed power supply, drains every hour (2 seconds) during the working day, off at night and weekends.

I'm tempted to add a normal solenoid and a timer so it dumps for a couple of seconds every time the compressor starts up

I just tossed away a little 20litre compressor tank... I should have kept it, I could have had 2 valves so the water drains into that tank thought a valve... then once in a while that valve closes and a drain valve on it opens emptying the tank

maybe I'm just making things overly complicated :-o

agreed, mine started off complicated, thought will need a timer, then a seperate 240V feed, it was growing arms and legs and running away with itself.. just for dumping air. In the end I cheated, had one of these 5 quid digital plug in timers, just put a socket near the receiver, and plugged the drain valve into the socket timer, which comes on at 8, then off at 5 at night, and off at the weekends. 2 seconds drain every hour on a 500 litre tank. Overall I think it's about right for that volume of air and my usage.

My timed one goes off every 45 minutes, which is its longest setting, but only for 2 seconds. I power it through a normal plug in time switch in a 13a socket, that limits it to working hours only. Dead simple, dead cheap, dead effective
