Compressor breaking RCD

My fiac compressor has recently started breaking the rcd, use to work perfect together with the 200lt airmec . Ive replaced the plug and looked for any burnt out components but no luck. The other one works perfect still. It starts and the rcd breaks after a second or 2 . Any ideas , or tests i can carry out to find the fault. Thanks in advance

is it triping all the time or occasionaly? RCD's detect inballance and earth leakage some of which are normal but if it is triping all the time then you have a serius problem. without proper elctrical test equipment you options are limited

You could check the cabling from the pressure switch to the motor for chaffing. Look for dirt/moisture in the pressure switch & motor.

Could be the insulation on the motor windings is breaking down, get a sparkey to do a PAT test on it.

Have one coming monday morning ( housebuild) . Hopefully he can sort it out.

The start and run caps on these units are enclosed in the terminal box on top of the motor and tend to run hot. Take the top off the box and examine the caps for bulging, this means they are faulty and could be causing shorts. There could also be a relay in there which can cause problems.

It working again, sparkey opened it up cleaned up , screwed it back and it worked, hopefully it lasts. Thanks for the advice.
