Compressor died

Typical ain't it. Last year I had three compressors. One beautiful brromwade which was just too enormous for my workshop, a twin cylinder direct drive and my long-time owned Clarke Panther 50 which tucks under the shelf racking.

Had to let the big one go to another good home because of its size (ironically when I move I'll have loads of space for one). Sold the twin cylinder on here and kept the little Panther.

Well, last night I went to use the air and it's empty. Compressor is always left on so checked and the 10a fuse was blown in the llug. Put a new 13a fuse in it and the motor just hums and then pops the overload.stripped it down and the motor is kaput. It's one of those integrated motor and pump so now I need to replace it.

If anyone has a pump and motor unit or even just a pump I can marry to a motor please let me know. Otherwise

I feel your pain. In my old workshop I had a monster broomwade compressor that came from Dounreay nuclear power station. I didn't have room for it then. So I let it go.

Now I do have room, could have put a vfd on it. Ah well. Such is life I suppose.

It's usually just a blown capacitor from the symptoms described, unless of course there's obvious damage to the motor wiring. Have you tried spinning the motor with no pump load and see if it starts?

Cap is showing 30uf like it should and I swapped it. Removed all load just base motor won't even try to spin just pops the overload. It's toast, my guess is an internal short.

I've got a single phase tank mounted Hydrovane you can have if it helps.

Well, one of them is connected to the west wing so a nice quiet Hydrovane will stop the servants getting woken up before their normal 3am.

I've got a nice compressor to dispose of in the near future. 3 HP , 150 litre tank. 3 phase. Has an intermittent fault on the pressure switch so that really needs replacement. Hasn't done a lot of work. Just dusty through being sat in a dusty workshop! Wouldn't be expensive and no panic to move so could hang on to it until you've moved if of any interest.
