compressor fittings

Hey,

I need a littel advice about compressor fittings (this i an unusual application!)

I currently have a compressor that uses 1/4" PCL quick release connectors.

I also have an oil barrel bbq that I give a little boost using the compressor and a air blower attatchment.

I decided it would be a really good idea if i could run some brake hose inside the bottom of the oil barrel and connect it to the compressor with a valve.

Ive found this - 1/4" Ball Valve

I will attatch this to the leg of the bbq and have one PCL connector on one end, allowing me to conect the air line easily. the valve should then allow me to control the air flow.

The problem I have is connecting the copper brake hose to the other end. I need to find some way of connecting 3/16" copper to 1/4" BSP.

Any Ideas?!!

if the copper is in the bbq coals will the high temp melt the thin wall tube ? if not all is well you could simply run it well outside the heat zone then just attach it to the valve by some rubber hose and a jubilee clip

The problem I have is connecting the copper brake hose to the other end. I need to find some way of connecting 3/16" copper to 1/4" BSP.

Any Ideas?!!

You need a 3/16" tube to 1/4" bsp male or female compression fitting.

ok I think i have a couple of hopefuls!

I worked out that the brake pipe is about 5mm
(3/16) inch = 4.7625 millimetres

I need to go from 1/4" BSP female, to 3/16" pipe
So the possibilities are..

UNION 1/4"BSP MALE TO 5mm COMPRESS


or

Male Stud Coupling Compression Fitting - Tube Od:3/16 Inch X 1/4 Inch Bsp


Do they look promising?

Thats the style of fitting. You need to determine if the tube is metric or imperial though. EG, you can't use a 5mm tube in a 3/16" fitting, it must be 3/16 tube. And V:V for imperial.

ok, well the copper line is 3/16 OD

So am i right in thinking this fitting will accept the 3/16 OD line, and convert it to 1/4" BSP male which will connect to the 1/4" BSP Female ball valve?

Spot on, thats what you need. Well, the only thing that would be better would be a taper 1/4" BSP male instead of the parallel. That would be easier to seal into the ball valve.
