got a new sealey 200 litre compressor few questions what pressure should the pump cut out at as it went up to a 150 psi but wasn't stopping so i turned it off manually what is the pressure that it should cut out at

Have a look on the tank plate should tell you max pressure and working
pressure on it
is it this one max pressure is 145psi

Is it new new or new to you? First look would be adjustment and operation of pressure switch

sounds like the pressure switch is either ment to knock off at 150ish or needs adjusting you not got a handbook with it

it didnt even go off it self at 150 i turned it off at 150 is it ok if i let it run to see how high it goes are will it blow up or something

Send it back and get a working one

have a look at the tank see what test pressure was
if you let it run make sure you can loose the pressure without going near it
long air line well away

That's what I would do if a new item didn't work. The manual will probity tell you how to adjust pressure switch

it should have a blow off valve on it as well have a look see if you can pull or push blow off valve or might have to pull it up

The blow-off valve will most likely have a ring on it to pull.

Normally taking the top off the pressure switch will reveal a large spring with a nut or screw in the centre. Loosen this to reduce cut-off pressure.

Do you switch off at the mains or the knob on the pressure switch?

the safety blow off valves are normaly set 10psi higher than the cutout pressure as its new they wont both be faulty . some comps do run up to 150 psi and some 120

yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss its working again i went out side and said that i will let it run to about 160 psi before shut it off let it run just about to give up and it stopped just over 150 so glad its nots broke
