Compressor leaking from here!

Hi Guys, just after some advice, my compressor is leaking from this brass valve type thing, Im presuming its some kind of pressure relief valve, ive tried tightening it up but still leaks. Can i do away with it?
If I cant what is called? cant seem to find a replacement for it. If not I guess I can replace the whole pressure switch?

Is it leaking from the tread where it is screwed into the ally casing, Or from the valve itself? If its the valve, strip it to see if there is any dirt etc on the sealing surface, Or it may just need to be lapped in to make the seat air proof

Its leaking from the actual valve

Run the compressor until it stops then pull the ring, the blast of air may clear any foreign matter.

There's a spring inside so be careful if you dismantle it. If you need to reset the valve, adjust so it blows at 1 bar above the safe working pressure, you can buy fixed ones, usually 9 or 11 bar, for 8 and 10 bar working respectively.

NO. Adjust it to one bar above OPERATING PRESSURE. Safe working pressure is the max you can take the tank/pies etc. to before BURST pressure.

The max pressure you can set the switch to is the max. safe working pressure (SWP), ie the maximum pressure it is safe to work at, so you might as well use a safety valve at 1 bar above this to cover all settings of the pressure switch.

The next stage isn't when everything bursts, it's the test pressure (TP) which can be twice the SWP. There's another increase in pressure above the TP before things start to get dangerous, routine pressure testing isn't done to destruction.

My Clarke compressor has a max operating pressure (SWP) of 10 bar, the safety valve is 11bar.

before you go buying a new one what pressure does you compressor cut out at ? it could be that the pressure switch has started cutting out at a higher pressure

The compressor is meant to cut out at around 11bar, but that valve leaks all the way to 0.

Does it start leaking at 11 or as soon as you get pressure in the tank?

You say the compressor is meant to cut out at 11, does it actually cut out?

Is it a slight leak or an appreciable blast?
