Compressor Modification Help

I recently picked up a new compressor without taking into consideration the noise (and subsequently ****** off neighbours) so I'm looking to modify it a bit and hoping anyone would be kind enough to point out any glaring holes in my plan?

I plan to remove the compressor and put it in a box lined with acoustic foam, with a muffled inlet and outlet and run the air outlet to the receiver via a water trap (extending the pipe distance approx 30cm from oem. I can't think of a reason I can't do this apart from possible heat issues but would like a second opinion.

One of the cheapest and most effective is to fit a better inlet air cleaner/muffler - pay a visit to the local scrappy and get something from a large ferocious car or truck, it'll reduce the noise substantially

I would exhaust the cooling air from the top of the enclosure so you go with natural convection instead of against it, and extend the inlets to the outside of the box to stop warm air being sucked into the pump, using a muffler as @Hopefuldave suggests.
