Compressor motor - Advice

Evening all....

I have acquired a worthington compressor and she is a beauty, the 3 phase motor has packed up (hence me acquiring)

I am looking for a new motor but i want to use a single phase

the 3 phase is 1410 rpm @ 50Hz 4Kw 400v

is it as simple as looking for a 230v single phase 4Kw 1420 rpm


How do I work out the Hp of the 3 phase

5.36 hp multiply by 1.34 or divide by .745

or is 4 thirds near enough

look on the motor plate for the frame size, so you can get one that matches.

YEP ----BUT----
Good luck finding 4KW single phase motor !!
4kw are about £1000
Then you would have the problem of starting it
3kw is normally largest at a reasonable cost.
You might be better altering the gearing (pulley size)
to lower the speed of the pump till it gets a little closer to being able to run off 1ph

i've run into the problem before. the chinese 5hp and 5.5 hp motors are rubbish i dn't think they actualy make the clamed power. but they draw a serious amount of current

your possobly best off useing two 3hp motors or runnng the pump at a lower speed ( if it has a big flywheel )

I have one big worthington creyssensac compressor for sale, required motor re-wind

she's a beast and gonna be a bargain for someone who can put 400v 3 phase to her, 4kw 5.5hp 250L receiver

I am gutted that I can't make this work

I don't think you'll find any 3hp compressor with high cfm unless it has two pumps and motors which isn't a cheap compressor unfortunately

use a conecting pipe between the 2 tanks as one will use more air than the other.3hp generaly 14cfm
