I've got a 50L 3HP direct drive sealey compressor, i've only had it a couple of years and it's suited my needs really well.
I went to use it today, it fired up for a split second, then blew the trips in the garage and the house. I've had a nose around inside, tested the capacitor which I think is ok.
Motor turned nicely by hand so i thought I'd strip it down. I've found a burnt patch on the stator (the windings in the body I think). Is there any way I can test this at home and if it is ******, are these repairable?
cheers folks
