Hi again everyone some of you might have read my previous post (help needed no knowledge) what this is about is my original compressor that has been a fantastic bit of kit not one single problem in the 3 years I have had it although I must say it has not done a lot of work as it is a hobby garage and workshop. My question is this, the compressor does not have an on/off switch on it, it is powered from the 13 amp plug, fills up, cuts out, and restarts when you have used enough of the air, a DA sander or air polisher cant keep up with it without a break and my Clarke's blasting cabinet struggled but did the job, it must have a pressure switch because you can hear it hiss as it cuts out when full, but everyone says never use the mains for on/off ? that is all there is, I will post a pic it is a 50 ltr tank and 2hp motor with a twin pump and that is all I know about it. If anyone recognises it I would appreciate any information they could let me have as, the first question is always what is the CFM. I don't know but as the smaller compressors go this has to be top of the class. As soon as I can find out any information on it, it will be for sale but people will need to know what it is and does. There will be an on/off knob on the pressure switch. Make sure this is set to "off", switch the mains on and switch the pressure switch knob to "on". Always use the "on/off" knob to stop & start it.

you can use the plug for functional switching upto 16A
Why would it need 16A it has never had it before to my knowledge Chris

i was saying that's what the regs say so your 13a is fine to be plugged and unplugged on load

i wouldnt fancy pluging and unpluging the comp under load .that would soon burn the contacts out in the socket due to high starting current and arking
thats the idea of a switched socket use the switch

With my new compressor which can be seen on my previous thread I have replaced one of the motors with a 4hp 18.5A and as might be expected had to hard wire it into the 32A trip switch on the consumer board it would not entertain a 13A even for test purpose, but as far as I am aware this is intended by the manufactures whoever they are ????? to run from a normal
13A household supply. I really would appreciate some info on this one there is a name of motor manufacturer on the motor which I will supply in the morning, nothing I have ever noticed on the pump or receiver, some idea of what it is worth would be a help as well I was thinking about £100.00 does that seem about right. I never actually paid for it as an item it came with a job lot of tools and equipment from a bailiffs auction in Wandsworth London. Many thanks Chris

I have an old SIP with the same set up on a 150 litre tank.It has a sort of soft start that only connects the pump to the tank once it's up to speed.
I've never thought about it till now,but maybe switching at supply bypasses this,and causes the pump to start on load.
I have a frame over the top so I can reach the switch and have "COMP" on light switch.I forgot once and it fired up at 2AM.Not good.

its never a good idea to switch a compressor on and off using via the socket as it doesn't release the pressure from the delivery tube then when you turn it back on via the socket it puts more strain on the motor
Hi again everyone Windy Miller came this morning and purchased the compressor we both looked for an on/off switch and it does not appear to have ever had one I have taken some pics of the gubbins and the only button or switch is a reset anyway Windy was happy let me know your opinions please Chris

its probably the same as mine none existent
just makes the lights dim a bit thats all the older motors will pull over easier than the new ones under loadMy guess is that it has a centrifugal unloading set up similar to the T30, as seen in Wyn`s re-build of his compressor
