Compressor tap

I notice a lot of you guys have tapped your compressor directly at the storage tank rather than use the manufacturers connection, why is this?

Because they have poor regulators on them, being very restrictive.

Ahhh ok is it as simple as that

You will still need to use a regulator, with a better flow rate than the fitted one for some tools as they can't handle reciever pressure. Also make sure you don't exceed the duty cycle of the compressor as you are using the air quicker than the original set up allowed.

Also used to connect to another compressor in "tandem" to give you a higher capacity.

If you do that do you just use the tank to increase storage or do you power the second compressor as well

You normally power both compressors, just make sure they switch at slightly different pressures so they both don't start together and trip your workshop supply!

I intended to connect a couple of Aldi/Wolf type compressors but managed to get a better, bigger single one.

I bought a bigger one to replace my 25ltr one I got a 50ltr twin then sold the 25ltr one, I could have had a 75ltr three cylinder

i use one of these one end and a ball valve the other with a c claw conector at full pressure

That looks like a good one mate. I hadn't thought about this before, but I had noticed that when I set a pressure on the reg that came with the compressor, and then operate something, the needle drops from the set pressure quickly even though the tank is full, I remember thinking to myself at the time that the pressure reg was rubbish, but it never occurred to me that one like yours would be better
What's the C4 with the wires coming out of it on the right there for

its dangling from the motor on me lathe im 2 lazy to ty wrap it on when it fell off
