compressor upgrade

possibly been asked before but thanks to a kind person on here i now have the budget to go looking at a new compressor from machine mart, now i'm asking for opinions please.

i'm favoring one of the new xev16/150 models @ £430ish, but thinking is it worth the extra £100 to get the se19/200 version?

i'm running body air tools with a quoted cfm usage of 6/7 cfm, will the xev with a quoted cfm of 14 be ok without the pump running all the time?

if i go for the bigger model with a quoted cfm of 18 i think this will definatly be big enough but they state this must be run from a 40amp supply, i'll have to install one as my workshop has only on a 32amp supply, i'm not sure its worth the extra money outlay.

sorry for the long winded question but i cant get my head around the cfm output vs usage, all i know is my old compressor wont keep up without running all the time( at around 50psi, not enough for the tools i'm using)

any opinions/ thoughts welcome...

couple of things here make sure you can run it on electric that you have 240 v single phase or 3 phase supply if you have it but remember move and you might not have 3 phase

get yourself a vat free voucher by asking on the forums i think one just came up recently

18 would be the prefered one is better for running more air power hungry tools
14 is by some tools
if running a sand blaster a higher rate of cfm is needed 18 cfm could drop by 30 percent so would be 16cfm that the air compressor can supply to your tool if you use smaller tubing to your tools you are alos lowering the cfm rate to your tool

They are quoting pump displacement and not free air displacement, you need the free air displacement as this is the true measure of usable air from the machine.

This varies from maker to maker and a decent machine quoting a pump displacement of 14/15 CFM may provide 10-12 CFM of free air while a lesser make may provide as little as 8-9 CFM.
