Hi, I’ve got a ranger 305d welder/generator and I recently bought a used LN-7 wire feeder to be able to MiG weld with said ranger. The previous owner, clearly had no idea what the LN-7 was meant to do and it’s obvious he thought it was a stand alone welder. I know this bc the wire feeder had its amphenol plug cut off and he’d connected a 110v plug in its place. Obviously he would only be able to pull the MiG gun trigger and it would feed but wouldn’t have a welding output. I will say he at least had the plug wired correctly “or as correct as you could be with said plug” so the pcb was not damaged. This is where my problem started, though. Of course I needed the correct plug to run to my ranger. However, being a small start up company, I nearly fell out when I saw the price on that plug. It just was not do-able for me after buying a ranger and a wire feeder. I bypassed the amphenol plug on the ranger and just hardwired the cable into the generator. The wire feeder seems to work perfectly fine this way and the generator doesn’t seem to mind either…. So far. My question is this, am I damaging anything by bypassing the 14 pin connector? On either piece of equipment? Thank you in advance. If i posted this question incorrectly, i apologize. New member.
