Connector for 8mm OD flexible tube

I bought an air fed mask from somewhere in China. When it arrived I found that it had connectors that were a slightly different design from the ones on my compressor and my air tools (which all use Euro connectors), so in order to make use of the mask, I need to change these connectors to Euro connectors. They are on orange plastic 8mm OD flexible tubing. So what I need is an adapter with a male Euro connector on one end, and a compression fitting suitable for 8mm OD plastic tube at the other end, and another adapter this time with a female Euro connector on one end, and a compression fitting suitable for 8mm OD plastic tube at the other end. I can't find any adapters like this. I can find male and female Euro connectors with 1/4" BSP threads at the other end, so what I think I need is a compression fitting suitable for 8mm OD plastic tubing, and a 1/4" BSP thread at the other end. I can find compression fittings like this but they all seem to be designed for use with metal tube, and have a copper olive. I don't think these will work with the plastic tubing. I think the olive will simply cut through the plastic tubing. Can anyone offer a solution for this problem?

You will get bsp to pvc tube fittings from any decent truck spare place.

Thank you for your suggestions. I have bought some of these push-fit fittings, and they do work. I'm a bit worried though about how long they will last. They look as if the metal teeth inside would be at risk of cutting through the plastic pipe with use. I would prefer a fitting that screws up to grip the pipe (but without a separate olive). Some of the Chinese-made fittings that I have are designed like this - I just need ones with a 1/4 BSP thread. Where can I try to buy these?

They last for ages lots of trucks on the road all with that sort of fittings on brakes etc. A lot more chance of cutting the pipe off with a compression joint if you over tighten it

We have a lot of those push fittings in use, some of them will be pressurised/depressurised 3500 times a day and still going strong 9 years later.

You can get strain relief boots for the push-fit fittings if you are that worried about it

There is another system but you need the correct tool for pressing the inserts inside the tube.

The push-fit fittings are surprisingly permanent, as FraserB says.

One thing I dislike about them for trailing hoses is that if they get stuck against something and you give them a tug, you can sometimes release the collet. I've done it once and seen it done twice. When it happens to you and you are faced with 10m of nylon hose whipping about like a mad thing, it is not even slightly amusing. When it is someone you dislike 25m away, it's absolutely hilarious.

My preferred alternatives are "push-on" fittings like the Camozzi "Rapid" fittings. I like these for a number of reasons. First is that they just work. Second is that they don't use an olive: if you damage the nylon tube (usually by kinking it right next to the fitting), you can cut it and remake the connection without needing to find a new olive. There are "1723 Anti-kink tube nuts" available which have a spring round the first 2 or 3 inches of tubing to help to prevent this. They do not have the collets, so being chased around the shop by an angry snake is much less likely.

It's worth noting that Camozzi call their range of push-in fittings "Super Rapid", which is a bit of a pain when searching. There are other manufacturers of very similar fittings: so much so that the nuts, etc, are interchangeable. Pneumax is one such. Pneumax use an octagonal nut for reasons that are not at all clear to me. When I have to use Pneumax fittings because Camozzi are not in stock, I usually fit Camozzi nuts, often the 1723 Anti-kink variety.

The tool for pressing the the barbed fitting into the end of the pvc tube works with two collets that clamp the tube, the center then forces the brass barb into the tube. then uses a steel nut to clamp the brass ferrule to a nipple.

The better quality ones are brass/stainless, and have a support tube built in, but even the cheap plasic ones last ages.

Everyhting you could possibly want is on ebay, all you have to do is search, which can be tedious at times espeiclaly if you dont know the correct term for said item.
