Connectors & fittings

Hi all

Looking at my box of air conmectors I seem to have collected 3 different sorts. There's the standard PCL type, then there are 2 'stubby' ones, one with a 8mm end the other with a 10mm (as came with the Aldi compressor)

Is one type of fitting better than the other, the stubby 10mm would suggest it gives a better airflow ?

I prefer the PCL ones as they are more universally used and easier to get.

I've got a combination of PCL and stubbys, mainly to prevent contaminating my 'clean' hose with oil.

Majority of the tools use PCL fittings and the hose is fed via an oiler, the second hose from the compressor is the clean hose and uses the stubbys. This is only used for blowers, spray guns etc

Just wondered if I'd benefit from using the larger stubbys when it comes to high demand tools like die grinders etc

If you're not having any problems I'd leave stuff as it is. Otherwise I'd be inclined to look at the hose bore size first. Obviously the 10mm ones will cause less restriction than the 8mm.

Assuming there's no great difference in price I'd go for the bigger ones just to be on the safe side.

I like the idea of using different connectors for clean and oily air - looks like an overhaul for my air system this summer!
