Some may remember this from last year, well I'm on with rebuilding the interior, it's coming along nicely, welding the bits underneath that need welding, changing brake lines, removing the useless abs, and one issue I didn't expect - the combined charger, system display and dc output controller.
I plugged said controller back in after looking over it, nothing, no answer to the battery dc, nor the mains. I had a listen to the switch mode psu - did some checks, it's charging its capacitors, but no inverting is taking place. The motorhome fun forummcame to the rescue - Apuljack electronics, fixers of such obsolete things. So I had a look at their website, phoned the tech dept up "oh very common problem, send us your unit, we'll fit anothe psu inside it, all will be well". What, don't you want the display/switch unit, and the dc output (called a vb06 by the German makers)? "No, it'll be your charger...."
Well guess what, I really should have gone with my instincts and questioned how anyone could isolate half a pcb with switched mode psu and dc switched outputs, remotely controlled and then fit a new psu in there.
But I didn't.Now the bozos tell me, after I had to chase them for an answer, that my only option is to fit a new, remote psu, and that they think the switching issue is to do with the other two bits they told me not to send them. But really, the likelyhood is that the unit I did send them is dead, and so will the whole lot be, without it. I could spit!
Realistically I have little or no way of testing the system, I really don't trust this lot, and fully expect them tonsell me a remote psu and leave me with everything else not working. Switch mode power supplies are not something I understand, 20 year old obsolete electronics without a ciruit diagram? Forget it. Unless someone has any ideas?
